NDMA and Jazz Partner to Deliver Life-Saving Alerts Ahead of Monsoon Floods

In a critical move to protect millions of citizens during the monsoon season, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has partnered with Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, to launch a nationwide alert system. This collaboration aims to send timely, location-based SMS alerts to populations vulnerable to flash floods and extreme weather events.

The system will enable NDMA to disseminate life-saving information in real time, particularly in flood-prone regions such as Punjab, Sindh, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Jazz will leverage its nationwide network to ensure that the alerts reach both urban and remote rural communities, regardless of smartphone access.

The initiative reflects a broader strategy of integrating public safety with digital innovation. Through the use of data mapping and meteorological intelligence, NDMA and Jazz will provide proactive early warnings, enabling faster evacuation and resource deployment.

Officials from both organizations hailed the partnership as a transformative moment in Pakistan’s disaster response strategy. The collaboration will also support awareness campaigns on climate resilience, evacuation protocols, and emergency contact resources—empowering citizens to take informed action when disaster strikes.

This public-private partnership underscores the urgent need for digital preparedness amid rising climate threats and is expected to serve as a model for future national emergency collaborations.
