Pakistan’s automotive sector has experienced a strong rebound, with car sales and production surging by 44.62% and 41.62%, respectively, during the first eight months of the fiscal year 2024-25. According to the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), this growth reflects rising consumer demand and a stabilizing economic environment.
Pakistan’s Auto Market Experiences Strong Growth
Between July and February 2024-25, a total of 67,135 cars were sold, marking a significant increase from 46,419 units during the same period last year. Similarly, car production rose from 48,408 units to 68,558 units, reinforcing optimism in the industry.
Top Performers in the Market
Honda emerged as the fastest-growing brand, recording a 63.05% increase in sales, reaching 10,265 units compared to 6,520 units last year. Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris models also saw impressive gains, with sales rising 58.74% to 13,602 units.
Suzuki Swift sales grew by 66.93%, while Suzuki Bolan experienced a staggering 110% surge in sales. Suzuki Alto retained its best-selling status, posting a 50.31% increase in sales, reaching 28,194 units from 19,761 units last year.
However, not all models enjoyed growth. Suzuki Cultus and Suzuki Wagon-R saw a decline in sales, with Cultus dropping from 2,501 to 1,887 units and Wagon-R decreasing from 2,285 to 1,608 units.
Production Growth Reflects Market Expansion
In addition to sales growth, production figures have also improved significantly. Honda’s production increased by 34.49%, Toyota Corolla and Yaris saw a 59.67% rise, and Suzuki Alto’s production expanded by 22.73%. Suzuki Bolan led production growth with a 90.43% surge compared to the previous year.
The robust performance of Pakistan’s automobile sector indicates a resurgence in consumer confidence and economic recovery. While challenges such as inflation and import restrictions persist, the steady rise in car sales and production highlights the industry’s resilience. Moving forward, continued policy support and economic stability will be key to sustaining this growth momentum.
