Over the past year, Wateen has worked diligently to address regulatory matters related to the Access Promotion Contribution (APC) liability connected to the Universal Service Fund (USF). This issue was formally resolved through an order by the Sindh High Court dated October 22, 2025, which was endorsed by the PTA and the Ministry of IT & Telecom. With this resolution, Wateen has achieved complete regulatory clarity and is now positioned to expand its operational footprint with confidence.

Commenting on the development, Wateen CEO Adil Rashid said, “The renewal of our LDI license is a testament to Wateen’s compliance, operational excellence, and its continued contribution to Pakistan’s digital transformation. We are committed to enabling connectivity that powers the country’s economic and technological growth.” The company now plans to accelerate its investment in long-haul fibre networks and next-generation infrastructure critical for supporting 5G, IoT, and enterprise communication solutions. The renewal also strengthens investor confidence and reaffirms Wateen’s reputation as a compliant, growth-oriented player in Pakistan’s rapidly evolving telecom sector.
