UTIS and Lucky Cement Partner to Deploy Advanced UC3 Decarbonisation Technology, Pioneering Green Cement Production in Pakistan

In a landmark move for the sustainable construction industry, Lucky Cement Limited, Pakistan’s leading cement manufacturer, has entered into a strategic partnership with UltraTech Cement International Solutions (UTIS) to deploy advanced UC3 (UltraTech Cement Carbon Capture & Conversion) technology at its production facilities. This collaboration represents Pakistan’s first large-scale industrial adoption of cutting-edge carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) technology, significantly advancing the cement sector’s decarbonisation roadmap and supporting national climate action goals.

The UC3 technology is designed to capture CO₂ emissions directly from cement kiln exhaust streams and convert them into valuable materials for industrial use, including synthetic aggregates, building materials, and chemical feedstocks. By integrating this innovative carbon capture system, Lucky Cement aims to dramatically reduce its carbon footprint, improve energy efficiency, and produce low-carbon cement without compromising product quality or output capacity.

This partnership aligns with global efforts to transition toward green manufacturing and positions Lucky Cement as a regional leader in sustainable industrial innovation. The deployment of UC3 technology is expected to set a new benchmark for environmental performance in Pakistan’s heavy industries, encouraging wider adoption of clean technologies across the construction and manufacturing sectors.

“Our partnership with UTIS to implement UC3 decarbonisation technology underscores Lucky Cement’s commitment to leading Pakistan’s industrial sector toward a sustainable future. This initiative not only enhances our environmental stewardship but also reinforces our role as a responsible corporate leader dedicated to innovation and climate-resilient growth,” stated the CEO of Lucky Cement Limited.

The project will be implemented in phases, with technical support and knowledge transfer from UTIS, and is projected to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
