The Punjab government has announced an expansion of its Hunarmand Jawan Program, offering young Pakistanis the opportunity to complete 3-6 month vocational training courses and secure employment in Saudi Arabia with monthly earnings of PKR 7,500 during training. The initiative aims to equip youth with market-relevant skills, enhance employability, and provide international work exposure to support economic growth and poverty alleviation.
The Hunarmand Jawan Program focuses on short-term, industry-aligned training in sectors such as construction, hospitality, healthcare, and technical trades. Participants will receive structured instruction, practical hands-on experience, and professional mentorship, enabling them to quickly transition into the workforce. Upon completing training, graduates are eligible for overseas employment in Saudi Arabia, offering them both income generation and global exposure.
Officials from the Punjab Skills Development Fund highlighted that the program is part of broader government efforts to reduce unemployment, especially among youth, by providing skills that match the demands of local and international labor markets. The program also aims to formalize overseas employment processes, ensuring safe and structured recruitment practices while enhancing the country’s reputation as a source of skilled labor.
By linking short-term vocational training with tangible work opportunities abroad, the initiative addresses skill gaps in the domestic workforce and helps participants gain financial independence. Analysts note that such programs can also generate remittances, which contribute positively to the national economy, while improving the socio-economic status of participating families.
The expansion of the Hunarmand Jawan Program demonstrates the Punjab government’s commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and sustainable employment. With training periods ranging from three to six months and guaranteed overseas placements, the program is set to provide young professionals with both practical expertise and valuable international work experience, preparing them for long-term career growth.
