ISLAMABAD: Zong 5G has officially enabled 5G connectivity for iPhone users in Pakistan through the latest iOS 26.5 update, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital and telecom landscape.

With the update, users of compatible iPhone models can now access Zong’s 5G network in supported coverage areas, allowing significantly faster internet speeds, lower latency and enhanced connectivity for data-intensive applications and digital services.
The development comes shortly after Zong commercially launched its 5G services across more than 16 cities in Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta. The company plans to expand its network footprint further with more than 1,000 5G sites targeted nationwide during 2026.
According to Zong, iPhone users need to update their devices to the latest iOS version and enable “5G Auto” or “5G On” in cellular settings to access the service. Compatible devices include newer iPhone models that support 5G technology.
Speaking on the milestone, Zong officials said the official enablement of 5G on iPhones represents an important step in accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation and expanding access to next-generation connectivity solutions.
The announcement also addresses earlier uncertainty surrounding 5G support for Apple devices in Pakistan, as previous industry reports had suggested iPhone 5G activation could be delayed until 2027. The latest rollout indicates that telecom operators and Apple have now enabled broader compatibility for Pakistani users.
Industry experts believe the move will accelerate 5G adoption among premium smartphone users and strengthen Pakistan’s transition toward advanced digital infrastructure, particularly as telecom operators continue expanding commercial 5G coverage and services nationwide.
