In its initial phase, South Air will operate flights connecting Karachi, Islamabad and Bahawalpur, while also introducing services from Karachi to Gwadar, Sukkur and Rahim Yar Khan. The airline aims to improve access to underserved destinations, facilitating business travel, tourism and economic activity across different regions of Pakistan.
The airline stated that its mission is to provide safe, reliable and affordable air travel while strengthening domestic connectivity. By deploying fuel-efficient ATR 72-600 aircraft, South Air expects to offer cost-effective operations without compromising on international safety and service standards. The aircraft are widely recognised for their efficiency on regional routes and their suitability for airports with shorter runways.
South Air’s launch comes at a time when Pakistan’s aviation sector is witnessing renewed private sector participation and increasing demand for improved domestic connectivity. The addition of new routes is expected to reduce travel times between key commercial and regional centres while providing passengers with greater choice and convenience.
Industry observers believe the airline’s entry will enhance competition within Pakistan’s domestic aviation market, encouraging service improvements and expanding connectivity to cities that have traditionally received limited scheduled air services. The launch also supports broader efforts to strengthen regional integration and stimulate economic development through improved transport infrastructure.
