SECP Approves Fauji Foundation’s Acquisition of 51% Stake in Askari Life

KARACHI: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved the acquisition of a 51% stake in Askari Life Assurance Company Limited by Fauji Foundation, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s insurance sector. The approval clears the way for Fauji Foundation to become the majority shareholder, subject to the completion of remaining regulatory and corporate formalities.

The transaction is expected to strengthen Askari Life’s financial position while supporting its long-term growth strategy. With the backing of Fauji Foundation, the company aims to enhance its operational capabilities, expand its product portfolio and further strengthen its presence in Pakistan’s life insurance market.

Askari Life has established itself as a provider of conventional and family takaful solutions, offering individual and corporate insurance products across the country. The change in ownership is expected to provide additional strategic support, enabling the company to invest in digital transformation, customer service enhancements and broader market expansion.

Fauji Foundation, one of Pakistan’s largest welfare and business organisations, maintains investments across diverse sectors including healthcare, education, energy, manufacturing and financial services. The acquisition aligns with its strategy of expanding its presence in high-potential industries while creating long-term value through sustainable investments.

Industry analysts believe the transaction reflects continued confidence in Pakistan’s insurance sector, which is experiencing growing demand for financial protection and long-term savings products. The acquisition is expected to enhance competition, improve innovation and support greater financial inclusion as insurers continue investing in digital platforms and customer-centric solutions.
