According to the company, the gas is believed to be biogenic methane — a naturally occurring gas produced from the decomposition of organic material. Initial technical evaluations, supported by independent industry experts, indicate that this gas is not linked to any known natural gas reservoir and is expected to naturally dissipate over time, especially if the flame is allowed to continue burning safely.
The discovery was made during a series of extensive technical and environmental studies that TPL Properties has been conducting over the past two years, underscoring the company’s focus on responsible development and environmental safety. These studies were carried out in collaboration with renowned national and international consultancy firms, the company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
TPL Properties confirmed that its comprehensive investigations included geotechnical studies, soil composition and contamination tests, Electrical Resistivity (ER) surveys, a detailed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and other essential baseline assessments. All fieldwork, including the latest hydrological study, was conducted with necessary regulatory approvals and in full compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Since the gas incident occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025, TPL Properties has implemented all required safety measures to manage the situation effectively. The company has also maintained transparent communication with relevant stakeholders and the public through timely updates across multiple media platforms.
TPL Properties reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, health, safety, and sustainability across all its real estate projects, ensuring that all developments are carried out responsibly and with due consideration to environmental impact.
