Capital Smart Motors has officially launched the JMEV Elight electric sedan in Pakistan, marking a major milestone for the country’s electric vehicle market. The introduction of this globally recognized EV model underscores Pakistan’s accelerating transition toward cleaner, technology-driven mobility solutions and reflects increasing consumer demand for sustainable transport alternatives.

The JMEV Elight, produced under the joint venture between Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) and Renault, comes in two variants priced at Rs. 8,499,000 and Rs. 9,999,000 respectively. It features a powerful 165 kW electric motor and a 56.3 kWh battery pack capable of delivering an estimated 500 km of range under ECO, Normal, and Sport driving modes. With AC charging taking approximately 10 hours and DC fast charging boosting the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, the Elight aims to offer both convenience and performance for urban and intercity driving.
Capital Smart Motors highlighted that the Elight’s introduction aligns with Pakistan’s environmental goals and the government’s push toward electrification of public and private transport fleets. The company aims to set new benchmarks in efficiency, safety, and design, while also promoting local assembly partnerships and charging infrastructure development in the long term.
Industry analysts view the launch as a potential catalyst for increased competition in Pakistan’s emerging EV segment. “The JMEV Elight represents not just a new vehicle but a new era for electric mobility in Pakistan,” an industry observer noted.
