The Punjab Police, in coordination with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), has officially released an updated and comprehensive list of new traffic fines for 2025. This revised schedule introduces increased penalties for serious offenses and adds fines for previously unpenalized violations, as part of a broader strategy to improve road safety, promote responsible driving, and enforce traffic discipline across the province using automated challan systems and enhanced surveillance.
Key updates in the traffic fine list include substantially higher penalties for overspeeding, red light violations, wrong-way driving, use of mobile phones while driving, and driving without a seatbelt. New fines have also been introduced for illegal vehicle modifications, non-display of license plates, and violation of dedicated lane rules. The move aims to curb reckless behavior, reduce road accidents, and align Punjab’s traffic regulations with modern enforcement standards and smart city initiatives.
The fines will be enforced through an integrated network of surveillance cameras, speed radars, and e-challan systems managed by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Citizens can check and pay fines online via the Punjab Police Traffic Helpline portal or designated mobile apps, ensuring transparency and convenience.
“The updated traffic fines are designed to act as a stronger deterrent against dangerous driving practices. By increasing penalties and expanding the scope of enforceable violations, we aim to foster a culture of compliance and significantly enhance road safety for all citizens of Punjab,” stated a senior official from the Punjab Police Traffic Wing.
The public is advised to review the official fine list available on the Punjab Police website and adhere to all traffic laws to avoid penalties and contribute to safer roads.
