In a groundbreaking move for passenger safety, Yango, the global ride-hailing and delivery platform, has launched a first-of-its-kind safety integration in Pakistan. In collaboration with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), Yango has successfully embedded a real-time emergency alert system directly into its app, connecting users and driver-partners instantly with the official ’15’ Police Helpline and emergency services.
This pioneering feature allows any user during an active Yango trip to trigger an immediate, discreet emergency alert through a dedicated in-app safety button. The alert transmits the vehicle’s live GPS location, trip details, and user information directly to the PSCA’s central monitoring command center. This enables law enforcement and emergency responders to be dispatched with precise location data, drastically reducing critical response times in urgent situations.
The initiative sets a new industry standard for safety technology within Pakistan’s burgeoning digital mobility sector. It directly addresses long-standing consumer concerns regarding in-transit safety by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and formalizing a direct operational partnership with the provincial law enforcement infrastructure. The integration covers all Yango services across the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Lahore, with plans for potential expansion.
“Safety is the foundation of trust in mobility services. Our integration with the PSCA and the ’15’ Police Helpline is not just a feature; it is a fundamental commitment to protecting our community,” stated the Country Manager for Yango Pakistan. “This real-time, official channel ensures that help is not just a call away but is intelligently directed to the exact location, making our roads safer for everyone.”
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority hailed the collaboration as a model for public-private partnership in enhancing citizen security in the digital age.
