Bank Alfalah, one of Pakistan’s leading commercial banks, has partnered with the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at IBA Karachi to launch EmpowerED — a five-day training initiative aimed at strengthening digital literacy, financial awareness, and responsible online behaviour among content creators.
With over 66.9 million social media user identities and 190 million mobile connections across Pakistan (Digital 2025 Global Overview), the program addresses a critical gap in financial education and digital safety for a growing community of independent digital creators. EmpowerED’s curriculum covered essential topics such as financial planning, platform strategy, content monetization, cybersecurity, and responsible online engagement.
Shahzeb Jillani, Director of IBA-CEJ, noted, “As content creators shape modern narratives, many lack exposure to critical areas like financial literacy and online safety. This program bridges that knowledge gap to build a more informed and resilient creator ecosystem.”
Echoing this, Madiha Javed Qureshi, Head of Communications at Bank Alfalah, said, “EmpowerED reflects our commitment to enabling digital safety and financial well-being. Supporting creators with the right tools not only benefits individuals but strengthens the broader digital economy.”
The training brought together 15 emerging creators and featured expert-led sessions from leading voices including Kazi Akber, Riffat Rashid, Faisal Sheikh (Jack of Digital), Mudabbir Jamil (Bank Alfalah), Ahsan Mankee (Bank Alfalah), Talal Ahsan (iVerify), Ahsan Aghai, and digital rights advocate Fariha Aziz (Bolo Bhi).
By fostering skills that combine creativity with financial and digital responsibility, EmpowerED sets a new precedent for creator education in Pakistan. This long-term collaboration between Bank Alfalah and CEJ is a strategic step toward building a more secure, literate, and empowered digital community.
