Faysal Bank, one of Pakistan’s foremost Islamic financial institutions, has taken a landmark step toward fostering workplace inclusivity by launching the country’s first-ever Inclusive Communication Guide. Developed in partnership with the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB), operating under the Pakistan Business Council, the guide is a pioneering effort to integrate respectful, sensitive, and inclusive language into corporate culture—setting a bold new standard for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across Pakistan’s business landscape.
The launch event in Karachi brought together senior business leaders, DEI advocates, and representatives from inclusivity-focused organisations to collectively champion a future where every voice matters. A standout feature of the initiative is its accessibility—the guide is available in both English and Braille, underlining a deep commitment to ensuring communication is inclusive for all, including people with disabilities.
More than just a reference manual, the Inclusive Communication Guide equips professionals—across leadership and employee levels—with practical tools to engage thoughtfully with diverse communities, including women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised groups. It represents a values-driven shift towards language that fosters empathy, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
“It is one of our strongest beliefs that inclusion begins with language. The words we choose reflect our intent and values. This guide is not just a document; it is a commitment to communicate with empathy, to respect diversity, and to build spaces where everyone feels seen and heard. We hope it serves as a meaningful resource not only within our organization but across Pakistan’s corporate sector,” said Yousaf Hussain, President & CEO of Faysal Bank.
Ehsan Malik, CEO of the Pakistan Business Council, praised the initiative’s trailblazing impact: “Inclusion is no longer a corporate buzzword, it is a business imperative. This guide stands as an exemplary initiative that can help businesses set the tone for how inclusive culture begins with intentional communication. We commend Faysal Bank for leading by example and encourage others to adopt and adapt this guide across their own ecosystems.”
This initiative marks another milestone in Faysal Bank’s broader DEI journey and reflects its aspiration to lead by example—not just within its own institutional boundaries, but across Pakistan’s entire corporate ecosystem. By initiating this important cultural shift, the Bank is helping to build a future where language becomes a bridge toward equity, empathy, and sustainable progress.
