Green Crescent Trust Hosts Joyous Gala for 2,150 Orphaned Students, Launches Rs 900 Million Ramazan 2026 Education Drive

The Green Crescent Trust (GCT) celebrated the unwavering support of donors and philanthropists, many of whom prefer to remain anonymous, in uplifting the education, dignity, and well-being of 2,150 orphaned students across Sindh. To honour their generosity, GCT organised a day-long gala at a renowned holiday resort along the M-9 Motorway for students from 112 schools in Karachi and three schools in Thatta. Similar galas are scheduled later this month in Hyderabad and Sukkur, ensuring that every orphaned student enrolled in GCT schools enjoys the festivities.

The gala also marked the official launch of GCT’s Ramazan 2026 Fundraising Drive, targeting Rs 900 million to expand enrolment of out-of-school children and intensify efforts against illiteracy in Sindh. Zahid Saeed, GCT CEO, highlighted the Trust’s commitment to providing students with special hygiene and education kits, annual food rations, and Eid-specific support including shopping allowances and meat distribution for families. He paid tribute to ICNA Canada for conceiving and supporting a comprehensive year-round assistance programme for orphaned students.

Nine graduates from GCT schools in Mehrabpur have become doctors, exemplifying the Trust’s holistic approach to education and co-curricular development. Currently, GCT operates 173 charitable schools across underprivileged regions, educating 34,660 students, with Vision-2030 aiming to expand to 250 schools and 100,000 students. Plans are also underway to extend the network beyond Sindh.

Chief guest Atif Iqbal, Group CEO of High-Q Pharma, announced a new initiative to sponsor GCT students for higher education, covering tuition and academic expenses, ensuring talented orphaned students can pursue college and university degrees. He praised the Trust’s efforts in urging government accountability for education budgets and lauded GCT’s leadership in transforming the futures of marginalised children.

Through strategic donor support and corporate partnerships, Green Crescent Trust continues to provide a complete education pathway for orphaned and deserving students, nurturing confident, skilled, and socially responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s development.
