As the 100% working interest owner and operator of the Mari gas field, Mari Energies is spearheading this critical infrastructure project designed to maintain the minimum delivery pressure of gas from the Habib Rahi Limestone (HRL) reservoir. By debottlenecking gas pipelines and installing compression facilities across the gas gathering network, the PEF Project aims to extend the production plateau and ensure reliable gas supply to downstream industries.

Project Overview

The Pressure Enhancement Facilities (PEF) Project is a strategic initiative focused on:

  • Debottlenecking: Removing constraints in existing gas pipelines to improve flow capacity
  • Compression Installation: Adding compression facilities across the gas gathering network
  • Pressure Maintenance: Sustaining minimum delivery pressure from the HRL reservoir
  • Plateau Extension: Prolonging the period of stable production levels

Strategic Importance

The project directly supports Pakistan’s fertilizer manufacturing sector, which relies heavily on natural gas as a feedstock for urea production. By ensuring consistent gas supply to fertilizer plants, the PEF Project contributes to:

  • Urea Production: Maintaining domestic fertilizer manufacturing capacity
  • Food Security: Supporting agricultural productivity through reliable fertilizer availability
  • Energy Infrastructure: Strengthening Pakistan’s gas transmission network
  • Industrial Collaboration: Coordinating between upstream gas producer and downstream consumers

Key Partners

The agreements bring together Pakistan’s leading fertilizer manufacturers:

About Mari Energies Limited

Mari Energies Limited (PSX: MARI) is a leading Pakistani exploration and production company, operating as the 100% working interest owner and operator of the Mari gas field, one of Pakistan’s largest natural gas reservoirs. The company plays a critical role in meeting Pakistan’s energy needs through reliable gas production.

About the Habib Rahi Limestone Reservoir

The Habib Rahi Limestone (HRL) reservoir is the primary producing formation within the Mari gas field. Maintaining adequate pressure within this reservoir is essential for sustained gas production and long-term field life. The PEF Project is designed to optimize recovery from this critical reservoir.

About the Fertilizer Sector

Pakistan’s fertilizer industry is a cornerstone of agricultural productivity, providing essential nutrients for crop cultivation. Natural gas is the primary feedstock for urea production, making reliable gas supply essential for food security and agricultural sustainability.
