Senior officials from Pakistan and the United Kingdom held substantive discussions in London today, focusing on creating new pathways for youth engagement, skill development, and overseas employment opportunities for young Pakistanis. The talks, held between Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Muhammad Faisal, and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, underscore a shared commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation through youth-centric initiatives.
The discussions centered on mechanisms to strengthen the connection between overseas Pakistani youth and national development programmes. Chairman Rana Mashood emphasized that engaging the diaspora youth is vital to reinforcing Pakistan’s national youth agenda and building stronger bridges between young Pakistanis abroad and state institutions. Plans for organizing a dedicated Overseas Pakistani Youth Convention were reviewed, aiming to create a formal, structured platform for sustained dialogue and engagement with the diaspora.
Chairman Rana Mashood is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom, with a schedule that includes engagements with the Commonwealth Secretariat, British e-sports organizations, various youth-focused institutions, and Pakistani students enrolled at leading British universities. These interactions are designed to explore international best practices in youth development and identify concrete areas for collaboration in skill-building and employment.
“The proactive role of the Pakistan High Commission in London has been instrumental in facilitating these important youth initiatives,” stated Chairman Rana Mashood. High Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Faisal, in turn, appreciated the outreach efforts of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to Pakistani youth organizations across the UK.
The progress from these talks is expected to pave the way for creating tangible new overseas employment opportunities for Pakistani youth, further enhancing the deep-rooted partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in the coming months.
