This ambitious project is a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to revitalize the national postal service, making it competitive, customer-centric, and integrated with the global digital economy.
Key Components of the Digitalization Drive:
- Core System Overhaul: The initiative involves replacing legacy manual and paper-based systems with a centralized, cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This will integrate all operations, from mail tracking to financial management.
- E-Commerce and Logistics Integration: A major focus is on transforming Pakistan Post into a premier player in the national e-commerce logistics chain. This includes enabling online parcel booking, real-time tracking, cash-on-delivery (COD) integration, and last-mile delivery solutions for online sellers.
- Digital Financial Services: The plan leverages Pakistan Post’s vast network of offices to expand access to digital financial services, particularly in rural and remote areas. This includes promoting branchless banking, mobile wallets, and government-to-person (G2P) payment disbursements.
- Automation and Customer Portals: The rollout will include automated sorting centers and the launch of customer-facing web and mobile applications for service booking, tracking, and bill payments.
The Minister emphasized that this digital leap is essential for Pakistan Post’s survival and growth in the 21st century, ensuring it remains a relevant and reliable public service for all citizens while creating new revenue streams and employment opportunities.
