Pakistan’s IT Exports Exceed $4.5 Billion in FY26

Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector achieved a significant milestone in FY2025-26, with IT and IT-enabled services exports surpassing US$4.5 billion, reflecting continued growth in the country’s digital economy and expanding global demand for Pakistani technology services.

The strong performance was driven by increased exports of software development, business process outsourcing (BPO), cloud services, fintech solutions and digital consulting. Industry stakeholders noted that Pakistani technology companies continued to diversify their client base beyond traditional markets, expanding their presence across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The growth highlights the increasing competitiveness of Pakistan’s technology sector, supported by a skilled workforce, improving digital infrastructure and greater international recognition of locally developed software and IT services. Companies have also benefited from rising demand for digital transformation solutions across global industries.

Government initiatives aimed at supporting technology exports, improving ease of doing business and encouraging investment in innovation have further contributed to the sector’s expansion. The industry continues to generate employment opportunities while strengthening Pakistan’s position as an emerging technology destination.

Experts believe sustained investment in digital infrastructure, talent development and innovation will be essential to maintaining export momentum. Expanding high-value technology services and entering new international markets are expected to remain key priorities for the sector in the coming years.

The record export performance underscores the growing importance of Pakistan’s digital economy as a major contributor to economic growth, foreign exchange earnings and long-term competitiveness in the global technology landscape.
