The Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the National University of Technology (NUTECH) and NED University of Engineering and Technology to establish the country’s first-ever Centre for Industrial Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (CIINAI). The initiative, implemented under the leadership of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan, aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of transforming Pakistan into a modern, technology-driven industrial economy.

The Centre will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies, artificial intelligence, and applied research under one platform to enhance industrial productivity and strengthen Pakistan’s global competitiveness. Equipped with cutting-edge machinery and AI-driven technologies, CIINAI will help integrate Pakistan into the global industrial AI and 3D manufacturing value chain while fostering innovation, technical excellence, and workforce development.
The Centre will be established by PIDC at its Korangi Creek Industrial Park in Karachi, functioning as a Common Facility and Training Centre. It will provide industrial AI solutions, advanced manufacturing support services, applied research and development, and technical training programmes under a sustainable operational model.
Under the collaborative framework, PIDC will establish and manage the Centre, while NUTECH and NED UET will contribute research, innovation, and technical expertise, creating a robust ecosystem linking academia, research, and industry. Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that strengthening collaboration between industry, academia, and research institutions remains one of the government’s foremost priorities under the National Industrial Policy. He expressed confidence that CIINAI would serve as a national model for future collaboration and contribute significantly to sustainable economic growth, increased exports, and high-quality employment opportunities for Pakistani youth.
