According to updated pricing issued by PSO, the price of jet fuel has been reduced to approximately Rs330.22 per litre, compared to the previous rate of over Rs441 per litre. The reduction comes after recent volatility in global energy markets and changes in domestic petroleum pricing mechanisms.

Aviation industry sources believe the substantial decline in fuel costs could ease operational pressures on airlines, as aviation fuel remains one of the largest expense components for carriers operating domestic and international flights.

The announcement follows last week’s sharp increase in jet fuel prices, when rates had surged by more than Rs53 per litre amid broader fuel price adjustments across the country.

In addition to the jet fuel reduction, the federal government also revised retail prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), reducing both by Rs5 per litre through adjustments in the Petroleum Levy (PL) and other pricing components.

Officials stated that the government reduced the petroleum levy on petrol to offset increases in supply costs, while adjustments in HSD pricing were managed through changes in ex-refinery prices and freight margins.

Industry analysts believe the latest reduction in aviation fuel prices could improve the financial position of airlines, support travel demand and provide some relief to consumers facing elevated transportation costs in recent months.
