Sindh Government Launches New Highway and Marine Rescue Services, Enhancing Emergency Response Capability

The Government of Sindh has inaugurated a comprehensive Highway and Marine Rescue Service, a landmark initiative designed to strengthen emergency response, improve road safety, and enhance maritime security across the province. This integrated service introduces dedicated rapid-response teams equipped with modern ambulances, rescue boats, medical equipment, and trained personnel to address accidents and emergencies on major highways and coastal waters.

The Highway Rescue Service will patrol key corridors including the M-9 Motorway, Super Highway, and National Highway N-5, providing immediate medical aid, traffic management, and victim extraction in case of road accidents. Simultaneously, the Marine Rescue Service will operate along Sindh’s coastline, including the Karachi coast, Port Qasim, and Indus Delta region, focusing on search and rescue operations for fishing communities, cargo vessels, and recreational boaters facing distress at sea.

This initiative underscores the provincial government’s commitment to public safety and disaster preparedness, particularly in high-risk zones prone to traffic collisions and maritime incidents. The services will operate 24/7 in coordination with the Sindh PoliceRescue 1122, and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), ensuring a swift, coordinated, and professional emergency response.

“The launch of the Highway and Marine Rescue Services marks a significant advancement in Sindh’s emergency management infrastructure. By deploying specialized teams on our roads and coasts, we are saving lives, reducing response times, and building a safer, more resilient province,” stated a senior official from the Sindh Government.

The initiative is expected to significantly lower fatalities from road and marine accidents, support tourism and trade activities, and provide vulnerable communities with a reliable safety net in times of crisis.
