The amalgamation integrates Telenor Pakistan’s extensive operations, network infrastructure, and substantial customer base into PTML, creating a combined entity with expanded reach and a significantly stronger spectrum portfolio . The merged company, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), is poised to unlock substantial operational efficiencies and accelerate investment in next-generation connectivity and digital services across the country . The integration process is expected to proceed in phases, with the merging of frequencies already underway in several major cities, followed by the integration of billing and other operational systems .
Hatem Bamatraf, President and CEO of PTCL, described the moment as a defining milestone for the company and the nation’s telecom industry, expressing gratitude to the Government of Pakistan, regulatory bodies, and the trust of customers and employees . The combined market share of the new entity now stands at an estimated 35.91%, positioning it as a formidable competitor in a market now dominated by three major players alongside Jazz and Zong . Looking ahead, sources indicate that the merged company is expected to eventually retire both the Ufone and Telenor brands, adopting the “e&” identity as part of its parent group’s global branding strategy .
