The terrestrial CLS will utilize the 1,885 km Pak-China OFC route, spanning Rawalpindi to Khunjerab, to create an alternative international connectivity route. SCO, serving as the leading telecom provider in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will contribute the cross-border infrastructure, while Zeta Technologies will design, deploy, and manage the CLS infrastructure. This collaboration backed by government support ensures diversified bandwidth routes, competitive pricing, and improved redundancy—providing Internet and telecom providers the tools needed to deliver more resilient, uninterrupted services nationwide.

This infrastructure initiative represents more than a technological solution; it’s a strategic leap toward digital sovereignty. In an era where submarine networks face increasing geopolitical tensions and threats, this terrestrial cable offers Pakistan a safeguard against internet disruptions. The project is positioned as the nation’s “digital shield,” delivering improved resilience, connectivity diversification, and strategic autonomy for the future of Pakistan’s digital economy.
