Young Doctor Killed in Clifton Bank Robbery as Security Guard, Assailants Exchange Fire

A 28-year-old doctor was fatally shot during a daylight bank robbery near Teen Talwar in Karachi’s upscale Clifton district on Monday, as armed assailants escaped with PKR 2.5 million in cash . The victim, identified as Dr. Akash Kumar, a house officer at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), was traveling with his father and cousin when the incident occurred outside a private bank.

According to police officials, Dr. Kumar had withdrawn PKR 5 million from a nearby bank and was en route to deposit the funds at another branch when four armed suspects on two motorcycles intercepted the vehicle . The ensuing exchange of gunfire between the bank’s security guard and the robbers resulted in the doctor sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the chest . He was rushed to a private hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival .
